Balancing messaging works to stop the spread of disinformation by poking a hole in the echo chamber and introducing skepticism around the falsehood. A balancing message should be introduced into the same conversation thread or feed where the disinformation surfaced. It must be presented as a straightforward fact, ideally linking to credible expert sources. It cannot be perceived as partisan or ideologically motivated. Remember your goal is extinguish the fire, not fuel it.
